What is Tile Connect?
Mahjong tiles are laid out flat on the board, with no stacking. Find two identical tiles and link them along an empty path. Easy to learn, not always easy to clear.
How to play
- Find two tiles with the same picture.
- Check the path: the two tiles must be linked by straight lines through empty space, with no more than two turns. The path may run outside the edge of the board.
- Select both tiles. If the path is clear, the pair disappears.
- Repeat until the board is empty.
Good to know
- Three boards: Easy, Medium and Hard. Every board can be cleared.
- A path can turn up to two times and may run outside the edge of the board.
- 3 hints, 2 shuffles, a free shuffle whenever no pair can be linked, and unlimited undo.
- Other tiles don't move after a pair is cleared.
- No time limit, and your best time on each board is saved.
Tips from Bos Naga
- Start at the edges. Tiles on the outside are usually the easiest to link.
- Don't forget the space around the board. A path can go out past the edge and come back in, as long as it has no more than two turns.
- Clear the pairs that block lots of other tiles first.
- Stuck? Look at pairs that sit far apart. Sometimes their path is the one that's open.
Frequently asked questions
How is it different from Mahjong Solitaire?
In Tile Connect the tiles lie flat with no stacking. What matters is the path: two tiles must be linked by a line with no more than two turns.
Why won't two matching tiles connect?
Usually another tile is in the way, or the line would need more than two turns. Try clearing a path with a different pair first.
How do I earn points?
Points come when the board is clear: 10 points per pair plus extra points for the board. The harder the board, the more extra points. Your points never go down.
Does Tile Connect cost money?
No. It's free, there's no sign-up, and the points are for play only.
